Melissa was more excited than anything to get into the jumping ring. Mully was absolutely no fun for dressage. He got bored and lazy, even the longest spurs Melissa owned wouldn't move him forward. But Show Jumping, now that was a completely different story! Mully loved to jump. The little arabian was born fully equipped with springs in his legs and more athleticism than most horses.
Unfortunately this silly little man was often laughed at when he was at shows. Melissa would walk him by trailers where strong equestrians tacked their robust sport horse steeds of 16 hands and more. They attached large breatplates and fancy equipment to their mounts to make them look triumphant and talented. They would turn there heads and snicker as the little arabian of a very odd color would waltz by. Thin wispy tail, dainty legs, scooped face and short posture all fought against Mully in comparison to the strapping beasts that surrounded him. Even the horses all seemed to turn away and snicker.
Melissa made a point of pushing him to his limit when he was in the ring for that reason. During Dressage tests the thick warmbloods and their owners would continue to laugh for obvious reasons mainly being Mully's arabian disposition which is immediately a turn off in a high class eventing competition. He could and would never move quite as nicely or smoothly as almost any other breed that would step foot in the warm dressage dressage arenas. He was talented but not enough for them.
But put him on a course, be it cross-country or Show jumping and he'll tear it up. Mully's arabness comes in handy as he has an insane amount of agility and bravery. He can cut corners faster and tighter than almost any other horse and he was scope so even when he'd come crooked into a fence he almost always picked up his feet enough to fly over it anyways.

You did the shading so nicely and I can really almost believe I am standing near to the jump!
